چکیده

5 Messaging systems, which include message brokers built on top of message-oriented middleware, have been used as middleware components in many enterprise application integration projects. There are many COTS-based messaging systems on the market, but there is little concrete understanding in the software industry on the performance of these different technologies. The authors have carried out a scenario-based evaluation of three leading messaging systems to provide insight into performance issues. The evaluation 10 process includes a study of the sustained performance of the system under load. The result of this study is used to derive a generic metric for quantifying a messaging system’s performance. The paper describes a synthetic transactional scenario, which is used for load tests and performance measurement. The results from executing this test scenario with three messaging systems are then presented and explained. Copyright c © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 15

Evaluating policies and mechanisms to support distributed real-time applications with CORBA

To be an effective platform for performance-sensitive realtime systems, commodity-off-the-shelf (COTS) distributed object computing (DOC) middleware must support application quality of service (QoS) requirements end-to-end. However, conventional COTS DOC middleware does not provide this support, which makes it unsuited for applications with stringent latency, determinism, and priority preservat...

A New Software Quality Model for Evaluating COTS Components

Studies show that COTS-based (Commercial off the shelf) systems that are being built recently are exceeding 40% of the total developed software systems. Therefore, a model that ensures quality characteristics of such systems becomes a necessity. Among the most critical processes in COTS-based systems are the evaluation and selection of the COTS components. There are several existing quality mod...

Empirically Evaluating CORBA Component Model Implementations

Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) middleware is increasingly used to develop distributed real-time and embedded (DRE) systems. DRE systems are increasingly combined using wireless and wireline networks to form “systems of systems” having multiple quality of service (QoS) requirements. Conventional COTS middleware does not facilitate the separation of QoS policies from application functionality, m...

Evaluating Subunits Importance in Performance Measurement of Network Systems in Data Envelopment Analysis

In conventional DEA models, decision making units (DMUs) are generally assumed as a black-box while the performance of decision making sub-units (DMSUs) and their importance play crucial roles in  analyzing the performance of systems which have internal processes. The present paper introduces an ideal network which have efficient processes and next purposes a new approach for evaluating importa...
